Key Tasks
- To be a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) contributing to meetings, the school’s development plan and self-evaluation.
- To lead other key meetings as directed by the Head of Care such as Child in Need, etc.
- To work with other senior staff to ensure all aspects adhere to wider whole school policies and procedures.
- To oversee the school Health Care and Therapies Team and support with cover from outside agencies.
- To always promote the Royal School for the Blind Charity publicly.
- To take on responsibilities of the Head of Care in his/her absence.
- To chair meetings on behalf of the Head of Care as required.
- To work closely with the lead nurse and assist in health care team and therapies training if required.
- To provide leadership and management to the school health care and therapies team.
- Liaise with the school transport coordinator to ensure all files are up to date with the correct health and medical information.
- Liaise with the after-school club manager to ensure all files are up to date with the correct health and medical information.
- Continually support vulnerable families in our school.
- To be involved in expert care planning and delivery of competency-based training for staff to ensure the complex medical needs of children are met in school.
- To support the transition processes for children and young people, including potential visits.
- Provide support and guidance to members of staff.
- To participate in the recruitment and selection of care division staff.
- Evaluate the quality of work within the care division, making improvements when necessary.
- Support the education team with cover.
- Support in EHCP reviews and ensure actions are met.
- Work alongside education to support in therapy meetings.
- Have an awareness of infection control procedures and lead on outbreaks.
- Support in PEP meetings with SENDCo and risk assessments.
