Established Designated Safeguarding Lead Refresher Training 13th June 2024 Thursday 13th Jun 2024 Via Zoom

9.15 am (9:30 am start) to 12:45 pm.

This event is suitable for designated staff (and deputies) that have previously attended appropriate DSL training and are now looking for a refresher.

“Keeping children safe in education” is statutory guidance for all schools and FE colleges including independent schools and academies. The current guidance states that designated safeguarding leads (DSLs) and their deputies must attend refresher training at least every two years and update their knowledge, skills and understanding at least annually.

Aim
To give opportunities for experienced designated staff to update their skills, knowledge and understanding of Child Protection and safeguarding within the context of provision for children with additional needs

Learning Objectives

  • To provide an update on recent changes in national and local procedures, policy and practice particularly in relation to ‘Keeping children safe in education’ (Sept 2023) and ‘Working together to safeguard children’ (Dec 2023) and how these will impact on multi-agency practice
  • To consider the impact of data protection legislation on child protection record keeping / information sharing and implement best practice
  • To consider the implications of the proposed ‘mandatory duty’ to report which is expected in Summer 2024

As this is a virtual training event you will require audio/visual capability i.e. desktop with webcam plus headphones and a microphone or laptop/device with microphone and camera.  Delegates will be required to have their camera on at all times during the training.

Certificates of completion will be emailed to participants following the completion of the training and receipt of a completed evaluation form.  To receive your certificate you must be in attendance for the whole event.
