The Cambian Group, the UK’s largest provider of specialist services in education, mental health rehabilitation and learning disabilities is looking for an experienced, creative vocational lead teacher to join Hill House School.

Hill House School is a 52 – week residential special school providing quality care and education for young people between the ages of 11 and 19 with a diagnosis of autism, or whose difficulties place them on the autistic continuum. Our young people often have complex needs and associated learning difficulties.

The school is in the heart of the New Forest, a beautiful location which is also close to the coast

Candidate Profile

We are looking for somebody to oversee the Design Technology at Hill House and to also further develop the Hill House Vocational Curriculum

We have a range of resources here at the school including a fully kitted out Design Technology workshop, large woodland area and school allotment, all of which offer a wealth of opportunities for our young people to engage in Design Technology projects, Outdoor learning, Forest School based activities and Horticultural work

We are looking for someone to develop these resources and opportunities and to support our young people to be able to work towards a range of recognised awards such as the OCR Life and Living Skills and Duke of Edinburgh awards

We are looking for somebody who has drive and vision and who is passionate about bringing new and exciting ideas

If you have an interest in working with young people with autism, this is an ideal place to use your skills in this highly rewarding field of education. Working as part of a committed team, we need someone who can cater for the diverse needs of our young people, therefore you need to be:

  • Dynamic and proactive
  • A contributor to the schools multi – disciplinary team approach

You will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging and memorable learning experiences and you will have the opportunity to work as part of an integrated skilled multi-disciplinary team, aiming to expand the horizons and improve the skills of young people.

We deliver expert care and Education whilst incorporating opportunities for staff and young people to experience the fun side of life. The role is extremely rewarding.

We are looking for someone with qualified teacher status and would also welcome someone with a DTLLS (Diploma of Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector) qualification as much of this work would be with our sixth form young people. We would also welcome a newly qualified teacher.
