Starting salary is £17,680, plus a £500 bonus on successful completion of probation period.

After 6 months’ probation, salary increases to £18,150 and then £19,198 when successfully secured Level 3 Heath and Social Care RQF. This is usually completed with the first 12 months and full support is available. Starting salaries for Senior Support Workers is £20,280.

Southlands School is part of the Cambian Group and is an Ofsted-registered independent specialist school, offering 38-week through to 52-week residential and day placements for boys and girls aged 7-19 years old with a diagnosis of Asperger’s Syndrome and other associated difficulties on the Autistic Spectrum.

The purpose of the school is to prepare students for the demands of adult life through staff expertise and specialist approaches. This included providing a nurturing and therapeutic environment that encourages students to flourish academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually. Southlands School’s approach to behaviour change is positive and non-aversive. The teaching styles and strategies are developed with Asperger Syndrome/high functioning Autism in mind and are very much led by the needs of the students. As a Residential Support Worker at Southlands, You’ll be a part of a hardworking and unified team, helping our young people to make the most of their many strengths.   Your role will be to support our residents to achieve their personal targets and be the best that they can be.

A number of our young people may have one or more personal challenges from a range of communication, behavioural, social emotional, and mental health difficulties.  So, if you can confidently build great relationships, work as a team, have a calm and positive approach, this is your chance to help our vulnerable children and young adults to improve their communication, independence and social skills.

Requirements for the role:

You don’t need any previous experience or qualifications to be a Support Worker.  Much more important are your personal qualities and values.  If you are an individual who is patient, kind, reassuring and honest, we want to hear from you.
