What we need
Our pupils need, and deserve, access to a high-quality, consistent speech and language therapist. As do our staff. We need an excellent, confident, resilient SALT willing to ‘hit the ground running’, able to work with a very high level of autonomy, and who is solution-focused, positive, approachable and pro-active. Somebody who really understands pupils with SEMH needs and how challenging (and rewarding!) it is to work in our schools.
Who we are
Our sector-leading, ‘outstanding’ (Ofsted, 2018) therapeutic schools for pupils aged 5–16 (all of whom have EHCPs for SEMH) have provided innovative, specialist provision for pupils with social, emotional and mental health difficulties since 2012. Today, we are widely acknowledged as leading the way in providing outstanding specialist provision for some of London’s most complex children.
What you will do, and be part of
This is an exciting and unique opportunity for a speech and language therapist to develop their own practice across already-established, outstanding therapeutic schools. Our seamless approach enables therapists to work collaboratively with teachers alongside a multi-disciplinary therapy team and engenders therapists to have autonomy of role, as the specialist in their sector. Octavia House Schools is looking for a speech and language therapist who is passionate about developing stable, consistent and long-term practice; and embedding an outstanding model of speech and language therapy across our schools.
Our commitment to safer recruitment
At Octavia House Schools, nothing is more important than the safety and well-being of our pupils. As such, we always follow safer recruitment procedures and do not allow anyone to work in our schools until/unless we can be confident that it is safe to do so. Our robust recruitment process and ongoing safeguarding culture are simultaneously the cause and result of our commitment to safeguarding; it is a commitment we expect and require from all of our staff.
All offers of employment are dependent upon the successful completion of all the relevant statutory vetting checks and the return of two satisfactory professional references. For this role, an enhanced DBS check will be required.
