About Us
St Piers School sits in the Education Directorate of Young Epilepsy, the leading national charity working exclusively to improve the lives of children and young people with epilepsy and associated conditions.  We are a non-maintained residential special school for 5-19 year olds.  We are an innovative and creative School for children with SEND and a large percentage of our cohort have Epilepsy, autism and severe learning difficulties, along with communication difficulties.  The School provides a variety of interactive and inclusive environments, both indoors and outdoors, which support the pursuit of ambitions and aspirations through a whole range of exciting and creative spaces.  All children are put at the heart of their learning experience, through providing an environment where everyone can make progress and gain new skills.  The School is ‘Good’ [Ofsted 2017], a Centre of Excellence [IQM] for inclusion [2020] and is a member of Challenge Partners [Quality Assurance Review (2019) judged ‘outstanding’].

Your role
We are looking for a creative, inspirational and dedicated Teacher who is passionate about working with SEND children to join our team of transdisciplinary professionals.

You will take responsibility for the teaching, learning and pastoral care of a class group, plan and teach well-structured lessons to meet individual learning needs, using the appropriated strategies to demonstrate and monitor student progression. You will ensure that students will achieve in relation to their prior attainment, and make good progress, relative to their personal needs. You will also take responsibility for the line management of the staff team working with the class group.

What we need from you
As well as holding QTS or equivalent, you will have proven experience of working within a special  school. You will be an excellent classroom practitioner, able to communicate appropriately at all levels, with an excellent team work ethic. Specialist areas such as autism, epilepsy and SLD are required.
