SEN Learning Support Assistant

Due to growth and development the Sheiling School is looking for enthusiastic and committed people to support our pupils in their education.  Working in beautiful surroundings and following the Steiner Waldorf Curriculum, you will work closely with pupils to support their learning, independence, creativity, communication skills, choice making and self-esteem.

You will need to have

  • A keen interest and skills in supporting pupils’ learning across our broad curriculum; in the classroom, in craft workshops (green woodwork, pottery and handwork), in the swimming pool, outdoors in our school grounds and within our local community.
  • Fitness and resilience to face challenges and challenging behaviour (experience preferred).
  • Level 2 English and Maths Qualifications (C or above).

Salary £16,160 – £17,675 pa

37.5 hours a week, 8:30am – 4.30pm, Mon- Fri

39.4 weeks worked

8.2 weeks paid holiday (includes Bank holidays)

The Sheiling School in Thornbury, South Glos is a residential Camphill (Rudolf Steiner) School for children with learning difficulties aged 6 to 19 and is part of Thornleigh Camphill Communities. Our beautiful grounds on the edge of the town encompass several residential houses for children and adults, a school building, indoor and outdoor craft workshops and a swimming pool. Adjacent is our farm, which provides organic produce for the community.

We are located 30 min from Bristol and Gloucester
