Brantwood Specialist School, set in the leafy suburbs of Sheffield,  is part of the Ruskin Mill Trust and provides Specialist Independent Eduction to children from 7 to 19 years.

Residential Support Worker

We have two contract types available

40 hour 52 weeks at a payable salary of £18,927.12 – £20,453.79

and

30 hour 52 weeks at a payable salary of £14,195.34 – £15,340.34

Starting salary includes a market supplement and is be subject to qualifications and experience, there will be an additional payment of £78.48 for sleepovers

This vacancy is subject to a ‘Welcome Bonus’. The successful applicant will receive a one-off payment equivalent to one month’s basic salary on completion of a six-month probationary period.

You will be part of a team of Residential Support Workers who supporting residents with learning difficulties within a residential setting. You will have responsibility for promoting and ensuring the safety, care, well-being, learning and development of the residents, to enable their growth in confidence and social and practical skills. You will be working on a shift basis working evenings and weekends.

The key duties of this role will include:

  • The supervision and support of service users in their residential settings with a range of domestic activities such as cooking, shopping, cleaning and laundry.
  • The supervision and participation with service users in social and recreational leisure activities, such as walking, cinema, household outings, visiting friends and family.
  • Completion of relevant paperwork is required.

The requirements of this role are:

  • Ideally you will be an experienced support worker who has worked in a social care or residential setting and worked with young people with challenging behaviours.
  • You will be required to provide personal care to some of our service users and as such it would be beneficial for you to have experience of this as well as medication handling experience.
  • You will have excellent communication skills, as well as experience of report writing and record keeping.    You will also be expected to attend training sessions as required.
