The Governors are seeking a strong, motivated and enthusiastic Principal to lead this forward thinking, creative and highly successful independent 5-day week residential special school. Farney Close has achieved 14 Outstanding Ofsted inspection reports for both its Education and Care provision over the last 16 years, making it one of the leading providers in its field of special education in the country. The last inspection took place in December 2018, and the outcome will be published in 2019.

The School is a very positive environment where the emphasis is on encouraging all aspects of pupil development, learning and growth. The school supports boys and girls aged 9 to 18 years, who have social, emotional, behavioural and mental health difficulties (SEMH). Also, some of the pupils may have their wellbeing affected by Asperger or Tourettes Syndrome, moderate learning difficulties, Dyslexia or speech and language difficulties.

As Governors, we recognise the importance of continuous development and so the Principal must have the vision, energy and leadership skills to achieve this. The successful candidate must display a record of strong leadership within an environment that meets the needs of children with social, emotional and mental health needs. S/he should possess a relevant qualification, have effective communication skills and a commitment to collaborative team working is essential, as is a high degree of empathy.

Farney Close is near the village of Bolney, being 36 miles south of London, 11 miles north of Brighton and just 30 miles from Chichester. It is set in 36 acres of beautiful countryside close to an excellent road network.

Farney Close is an equal opportunities employer and is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. It expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
