Occupational Therapist

Permanent contract, 35 hours per week, 40 weeks per year (40 weeks during term time plus up to 5 days of work during school closure or Saturdays as required)

Annual salary:  Scale point 5; £25,939 – £27,252

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic forward-thinking Occupational Therapist who wants to develop their career, skills and knowledge in a specialist educational setting from Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 5.

As an OT with at least 2 years’ experience you will be working within a small team with clinical responsibility for OT input and training of staff within the school. You will enjoy the chance to work within a well-resourced department, (including a resourced Sensory Integration room) with a complex caseload, where intensive therapy with pupils is encouraged. You will have access to external clinical supervision and a Mentor.  If you believe you can help our young people to develop their potential at school, in our residential setting, at home and in their communities and are looking for a fresh challenge, then this role may be just what you are looking for.

The ideal candidate will have experience of working with children and young people with speech, language and communication needs, experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team, may have completed some training in SI, and will be HCPC registered.

You will work collaboratively as part of strong and supportive multi-disciplinary team of teachers, therapists, teaching assistants and residential care officers, with class groups, smaller groups and with individual children.  Dawn House School is a non-maintained day and residential school for pupils aged between 5 – 19 years, who have severe and complex speech, language and communication difficulties (including Asperger’s Syndrome) with associated learning and/or behavioural difficulties.
