New College Worcester is a nationally regarded non-maintained residential special school, devoted to the education of vision impaired young people aged 11 – 19.

HEAD OF SAFEGUARDING (HOS)  (ref: C255/0922)

Part time:  25 hours per week

Scale SO2; SCP 26-28, £30,984 – £32,798

Pro rata salary for 25/45 hours:  £17,213 – £18,221

The Head of Safeguarding (HOS) will take lead responsibility for safeguarding and child protection across the college.  You will lead the operational work to keep children safe and will contribute to the safeguarding strategy.

The HOS will take part in strategy discussions and inter-agency meetings, and contribute to the assessment of children.  You will communicate with parents and staff.

You will advise and support other members of staff on child wellbeing, safeguarding and child protection matters, and liaise with relevant agencies such as the local authority and police.  You will also oversee the College’s Early Hope Offer.

Some safeguarding activities will be delegated to deputies, but the HOS will retain ultimate lead responsibility for safeguarding and child protection, although the SLT member with responsibility for Wellbeing will hold the DSL title.
