Caretaker/Senior Maintenance Assistant
Salary: £28,511 to £34,284 depending on experience (42 hours per week)
The role is residential position with accommodation provided. Alternatively, we will consider local candidates who live within walking distance who will not be required to live on site.
You will play a key role in delivering a safe and effective physical environment to support the learning of our students across an extensive site providing day, residential and sports facilities. The role requires the ability to work flexibly in a team, to apply practical experience to a broad range of maintenance challenges, and to be proactive in ensuring the physical safety of all staff and students.
- Supporting the delivery of renovation and upgrade projects around the site.
- Undertaking general maintenance works including plumbing, masonry, electrical and decoration, grounds and swimming pool maintenance.
- Providing motivation and support to the maintenance team in the delivery of reactive maintenance as required and to deputise for the Maintenance Manager in their absence.
- Providing emergency cover overnight and out of hours including out of hours cover for fire procedures and other emergencies.
- Carrying out daily security checks of the school site – including opening the school in the mornings and locking up at nights.
Suitable applicants should be skilled in relation to one or more trades; electrical, carpentry or plumbing and with a general competency covering a broad range of maintenance trades. Some computer literacy is a further requirement of this role along with a full driving license.
Candidates must also have recent experience of working in a comparable role, ideally in a similar environment and have awareness of Health & safety issues. A friendly and calm manner is required with the ability to work effectively with all stakeholders and contractors at the school.
There may be flexibility with regard to the number of hours per week. There is a requirement for limited pool maintenance work at weekends.
