Exciting opportunities are available to join our Charity as a Residential Childcare Workers (RCWs).

Talbot House Children’s Charity are a registered charity with a Residential Children’s Home and School on the same site. Set in 8 acres of beautifully maintaining gardens and land, you would be forgiven if you thought we are based in the heart of the countryside, however, we are based in Walbottle, offering an easy commute for our staff and visitors.

We are looking to recruit additional full time Residential Childcare workers (if you are interested in full-time, part-time or bank staff please read on, the role is the same, however the hours would differ depending on the agreed contracted hours for part-time, or hours will be as and when for bank staff, please contact us for more information, or let us know how many hours you are looking to work on our application form).

The role of our RCWs is to support the Registered Manager and Senior Residential Childcare Workers with the effective and efficient running of our 5 bedroom home, all with private en-suite bedrooms. Our staff help us to provide security and stability for the young people, enabling the young people to achieve positive change in their lives.

While we hope to receive applicants of all genders, we encourage male staff to apply for this role to help provide a balance of positive role models within the team to support our young people.

Roles are offered on a full-time, part-time, or bank staff basis.

You can earn a very competitive starting salary of £27,307.84 per annum, including sleep allowance (but excluding overtime), this includes a basic salary of £22,987.84 per annum (which rises to £23,336.41 following successful probationary) plus an average of £4,320.00 per annum sleep allowance (based on 6 sleeps per month).

Further basic salary increases are offered after 1 year service to £23,684.99 per annum and again after completion of the Level 3 NVQ to £24,158.56 per annum (your NVQ L3 is fully paid for by the Charity, a training agreement is required). Salary will rise again with length of service to £24,593.69 per annum.

Sleep-ins are paid at £60 per sleep shift.

Overtime is paid at an enhanced rate of one and one half (1.5 rate) for all hours worked over 162.5 hours per month. Overtime is not included in the above salary details. This means that your earning potential is likely to increase further than the salaries stated above to over £30,000.00 per annum.

Hours are 162.5 per month (based on an average 37.5 per week). Rota’s are completed in advance, and we work on a rolling rota (where possible) so you will know when you are working in advance.

You must hold a full, manual driving licence to apply for this role as travel with our young people is essential, therefore, we require confident drivers to drive our company vehicles and ideally have their own vehicle with business insurance.
