NASS and Hunrosa – Sleep Right Training: Become an accredited ‘Sleep Right’ school!
Sleep difficulties are growing amongst children and young people and are particularly common in young people with SEND. Factor in those children who live in residential settings and we think sleep will be an issue most of our schools can identify with.
In 2020, NASS and Hunrosa sleep consultancy developed the ‘Sleep Right’ Resource aimed at supporting schools to improve the quality and quantity of sleep for children and young people in their schools. The resource was launched on 10th November and every NASS member has access to a free copy via our members zone.
We are now offering accredited training to schools that want to explore this topic in further detail. This is a 2-day course, via Zoom, with completion of the second day leading to schools being awarded ‘Sleep Right’ CPD Standards Office accreditation. The course will be worth at least 12 hours of CPD.
Day one will focus on how sleep works, sleep science, sleep needs, how to gain good quality sleep, bedroom environment and bedtimes, anxiety and sensory needs. Day two will concentrate on sleep strategies and methods, how to know if there’s a sleep problem and what to do. It will feature extensive use of ‘real life’ case studies.
The dates for the training are 21st and 23rd June 2021 with timings of 9:45 am (10:00 am start) to 2:00 pm on both days.
Each day will run with 2 sessions from 10.00-11.30 and 12.30-2.00 to allow schools flexibility to juggle other tasks. Delegates are required to attend both days in order to receive accreditation. There will be a small task to complete between day one and day two.
